Hi Allan – love ‘The Melbourne Foodie’ – great articles, gorgeous photos and as always, you know the very latest about what’s happening around Melbourne’s food world. Look forward to seeing more. All the best, Pauline
Just read Vy from Morning Glory, Hoi An, Vietman is coming to the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. Her food is modern Vietnamese street food and more. We ate every meal we could at Morning Glory with extra snacks between. And undertook a hands-on cooking class. An experience not to be missed
Have made your Banana Muffins from In the Kitchen many times, and am now keen to try your variation:) I’m hoping ‘top’n'fill’ is much the same as the more hard to find dulce de leche as I really want to give this version a go.
Thanks Coby – I don’t kow that product – but i do know a good quality caramel is a wonderful thing.
Nice website! Looks like it’ll be easy to reference and have lots of interesting things in it.
I’m looking forward to getting The Melbourne Foodie newsletter as it comes out.
Great to see you recently!
Hi Allan, You should Check out LAMANNA DIRECT in Essendon Fields- A real foodies place to shop! We love shopping there! They have so many different products, the fruit & veg are all Australian (nothing is imported) and I think that is so important! The cakes and pastries are amazing and the meat is to die for! Would love to see what you think! Carla
Thanks Carla – will check it out, really appreciate the recommendation!
Hope you are well. Need to speak to Michelle. Could you pass on my details . Please. Bill frm Bills Farm 040 999 5851. Thanks
Let me know an email address and I’ll pass it on.
Wow! What a veggie garden you have!
Also the Mornington Peninsula – Food Tour looks great too.
P.S. Thanks for settling our bet re: table settings too
Hello Allan, for our office biggest morning tea fund raiser I made your lemon rhubarb cake and it was an absolute triumph – you are so right about the acidy fruit – many many thanks
Allan and Michele – I feel compelled to write to you. 6 years ago I purchased “In the Kitchen”. My mother and sister were with me at the time and questioned me choosing such a “big” cookbook. 6 years on and I have to say it has been one of my best cooking purchases! It never fails to provide me with recipes that please. Of course have my favourites, but as soon as I try a new recipe from the collection, it becomes another favourite (I’ve just made pasties for the kids using your hot water pastry – they loved them! And a few weeks ago I tried the chickpea and vegetable casserole… OMG!). Anyway, just wanted to say thank you!!
For your next addition, you must include Le Peche Gourmand in your list of Melbourne’s best (out of town) patisseries. Def worth the hr or so drive for frenchy baked goodness.
